Answers to common questions about using GPRN. Can't find what you need? Our support team is a click away.
Click "Join Network" on the homepage and choose whether you are a Locum GP or a Practice Manager. Fill in your details, verify your email address, and complete your profile. Locum GPs will need to provide their GMC number and upload key documents. The process takes approximately 2-3 minutes.
GPRN is free to register. Practices pay a small service fee per confirmed booking. There are no hidden charges or subscription fees. Full pricing details are available during practice registration.
Locum GPs set up their profile, availability calendar, and rates. When a practice needs cover, they search for available locums filtered by health board, date, and session type. The practice sends a direct offer with a locum's set rate. The locum can accept, decline, or counter-offer. Once both parties agree, the booking is confirmed. Both parties receive notifications throughout the process.
GPRN covers all seven health boards in Wales: Aneurin Bevan, Betsi Cadwaladr, Cardiff and Vale, Cwm Taf Morgannwg, Hywel Dda, Powys, and Swansea Bay. We are focused exclusively on Welsh primary care.
Once logged in, set your availability and rates from your dashboard. Practices will find you when searching for locums and send you direct offers. You can view all pending offers from "My Offers" and manage your schedule on "My Calendar".
Yes. You can set your default rates for AM, PM, Full Day, and On-Call sessions from the "My Rates" page. You can also set practice-specific rates if you have different arrangements with particular practices. Your published rates are visible to practices when they view your profile and send offers.
When a practice sends you an offer, you can review the details including the locum's set rate, date, and session type. You can accept the offer, decline it, or send a counter-offer with your preferred rate. Once both parties agree, the booking is confirmed in your calendar.
Your booking reliability score reflects how consistently you honour confirmed bookings. Cancellations and no-shows reduce your score. A high score (above 95%) makes you more attractive to practices when they search for locums. Practices can see your reliability score on your profile, so maintaining a high score helps you receive more offers.
From your dashboard, use "Find Locums" to search for available GPs by health board, date, and session type. You can view their profiles, rates, reliability scores, and availability. When you find a suitable locum, send them a direct offer with your locum's set rate and session details.
Use the "Find Locums" section to search by health board, availability, and session type. Each locum profile includes their qualifications, clinical system experience, booking reliability score, and published rates. You can send a direct offer with your locum's set rate, or message them first to discuss details before booking.
Currently, offers are sent individually to ensure clear communication with each locum. You can create internal session records to track your staffing needs and then approach locums one at a time. We are working on a bulk offer feature for future releases.
After a session is completed, the agreed rate is processed through the platform. Practices receive a monthly invoice detailing all confirmed bookings. Payment terms and billing details can be managed from the "Billing" section of your dashboard. All rates are agreed upfront before booking confirmation.
Payment arrangements are agreed directly between the locum and the practice. GPRN facilitates the booking and provides transparent rate information, but does not process payments directly. Most practices pay locums within 30 days of the completed session.
No. GPRN is transparent about all costs. Locums use the platform for free. Practices are charged a clearly stated service fee per booking, which is visible before confirming any booking. There are no sign-up fees, monthly subscriptions, or hidden charges.
GPRN displays whether you have opted into NHS Pension on your profile. Pension contributions remain between you, the practice, and the pension scheme. We recommend using tools like Locum Organiser to track your pension contributions across all your locum work.
GPRN works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend keeping your browser up to date for the best experience. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Yes. GPRN is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. You can manage offers, bookings, and receive notifications from any device. A dedicated mobile app is planned for the future.
